Many Iowans often are
faced with the thought
there is NOTHING TO
DO. This tends to be a
more serious issue during
the winter months
when we lock ourselves
indoors due to the frigid
temperatures outdoors.
Of course, there
always is the option of
going to a movie. By the
time you factor in the cost of tickets and the visit to
the concession stand, you already have spent a good
chunk of cash.
My goal with this column is to tell you about the
wide variety of entertainment options taking place
RIGHT HERE in the Cedar Valley. Throughout the
year we will look at sporting events, athletic activities,
and adventurous trips that cater to all ages. The best
part is that nearly all of these options are inexpensive
and AFFORDABLE for the college student with little
money or the husband and wife that want to bring the
kids along. It is my hope that you won’t be able to complain
(as much) about not having anything fun to do!
Today, let’s look at the University of Northern
Iowa’s “Women’s Panther Pack”, a simply genius marketing
plan to get more people to women’s sporting
events at UNI. The “Women’s Panther Pack” is a
booklet of 25 general admission tickets allowing admission
to any UNI regular-season women’s sporting
event. The cost is just $50.
Fans can use these 25 tickets in any combination,
whether it’s one at each of 25 events, or all 25 tickets at
one event. The tickets are good at any Panther women’s
sporting event - not including postseason play
- to which UNI charges admission, including soccer,
volleyball, basketball, track and field and softball.
A quick calculation shows that with this Panther
Pack, for just two bucks you can get into any women’s
sporting event. This is dirt cheap, especially considering
that the costs to attend a junior high or high
school sporting event are double or triple this cost.
With your two-dollar ticket you have the chance
to see an NCAA Division I sporting event filled with
all the features that make college athletics awesome.
You might see the nationally-ranked UNI Dance
Team perform, check out the high-flying cheerleader
stunts, hang out with the Panther mascot, T.C., win a
prize at intermission, or smile and wave at everyone
on the jumbo video board. The McLeod Center is a
top-notch facility with ample parking, comfy seats,
a good sound system, affordable concessions, and
much more.
As you will find, it is easy to get caught up in the
excitement of a live sporting event. There is much
more interaction than if you were to spend “date
night” at the cinema. To order the Women’s Panther
Pack, or for more information, call the UNI Athletic
Ticket Office at 319-273-4tix.
With the “Women’s Panther Pack” you get out
of the house and take in some extraordinary athletic
performances in a beautiful facility, for a very affordable
price.
Just one of the many fun sporting activities to
be a part of, and we have it right here in the Cedar
Valley.
